THE latest community news from Waunfawr
Women’s Institute
WITH the nights drawing in, the regular monthly meetings of the Waunfawr WI have restarted and the September meeting took place on Monday 3rd in the community hall.
There a very good turnout of both members and visitors, some of whom are interested in becoming members.
All were warmly by the president, Jean Eklund, and after the usual business had been undertaken, she went on to welcome the speaker for the night.
With the advertised speaker unable to attend and secretary Sue Wildig having problems in getting a speaker at very short notice, she persuaded her husband John to speak on his long involvement in the Ceredigion uplands, paying particular attention to his career at the former Pwllpeiran Experimental Husbandry Farm at Cwmystwyth.
All thoroughly enjoyed John’s reflections on the changes in the uplands, farming, environmental and socio-economic, which have been taking place in recent times.
The next meeting will be on Monday, 1 October, at 7pm in the community hall when the speaker will be Hugh Parry on ‘The Sheik of Shellac’.
As always prospective new members will be very welcome.
Further information is available from Sue Wildig on 01970 623713.
