THE previous meeting of the Waunfawr WI took place on Monday, 2 October, in the Community Hall when members were once more able to meet together and welcome visitors.

After a short business session, president Jean Eklund introduced the speaker and demonstrator, Linda Hood.

Linda has recently explored the possibilities of making jewellery and she brought samples which she had created, and assuring members that they would be able to take home a necklace they had made during the evening.

The art of creating jewellery by making a cage of wire holding a polished stone is a very ancient one; Linda had brought a wide variety of polished stones, fine silver wire and silver chains so, with her help and guidance members were indeed able to carry home something very special.

The next meeting will be the AGM on Monday, 6 November, when they will be joined by county WI adviser, Bethan Williams to guide them through the AGM.

November also brings some county events including the Food Forum at St Paul’s Methodist Centre on 7 November; and the Annual Council Meeting at Morlan on 11 November.
