CALLS are being made for those enjoying the county’s beaches to respect them after smashed glass bottles were found on Pwllheli beach.
Gwynedd Council is urging those who use the beaches to respect and protect the natural environment and to take their litter home with them when they leave.
The calls come after the council’s maritime unit was called out by a concerned local resident who saw that a significant number of glass bottles had been deliberately broken and left on Marian y De beach.
Barry Davies, Gwynedd Council’s maritime and country parks officer, said: “As a county, we have over 300 miles of fantastic coastline, and we are grateful to the vast majority of people who respect the local environment and dispose of their litter in a responsible manner.
“Unfortunately, we recently received a call from a very concerned local resident who came across a number of smashed glass bottles that had been left on the popular Gimblet Rock area of the beach at Marian y De."
Members of the public can help Gwynedd Council reduce environmental crime by reporting incidents, in strictest confidence, to the street enforcement team by calling 01766 771000, email [email protected] or visit the website www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru and click on the ‘Report a Problem’ tab.
