Madam,
The Scott Brothers recently returned from Latvia and, with a concert tour of Switzerland next, played John Smallwood’s Wurlitzer theatre organ and Bluthner piano to a packed audience in the Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn.
Jonathon and Tom are both music composers who teach at the Northern College of Music where they studied. Jonathon is also resident organist at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, and he arranges the duo’s music but much of their time is spent entertaining audiences all over the world.
Rossini’s Overture to the Barber of Seville provided a lively start to an evening of popular classical music which included pieces by Mozart, Debussy, Dukas and also Timepiece, one of Tom’s compositions. Tom or Jonathon painted the scene before playing each piece of music, with the introductions to Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Saint-Saens Danse Macabre and Greig’s Peer Gynt Suite No 1 being particularly graphic and hilarious.
The Scott Brothers played with consummate skill and panache to the delight of the audience and we thank Noson Allan for their generous sponsorship to make this event possible.
Forthcoming Wurlitzer concerts being held in the Neuadd Pendre, Tywyn, starting at 7.30pm, include Donald Mackenzie on Tuesday, 15 October and Andrew Umpleby on Saturday, 7 December.
Yours etc, Isabel Mary Roe, Tywyn.
