Community choir Côr Cardi-Gân has presented £3,500 to HAHAV Ceredigion.

Some of the money was raised through Côr-tastig Ceredigion 2025, an evening of music and entertainment in Llwyncelyn at Moody Cow, where the community gathered for an evening of singing, friendly competition and fun.

The rest of the money was raised through two carol singing evenings.

Côr-tastig Ceredigion 2025 was hosted by presenter Eleri Sion last May, who kept the audience and competitors entertained with her trademark wit and humour.

Eleri also welcomed HAHAV Ceredigion chair Gwerfyl Pierce Jones, who spoke about the charity’s work and highlighted the importance of community events in raising both money and awareness.

Four choirs took part in the competition: Bois y Rhedyn, Corisma, Bois y Gilfach and Côr Cardi-Gân.

The judges - Euros Lewis, Caryl Jones, Dan Edwards-Phillips and Gwenith Evans - provided entertaining, constructive and professional feedback on each performance.

Each choir performed two songs, one contemporary or light-hearted piece and one more traditional before the judges awarded their scores. The choir with the highest score was crowned Côr-tastig Ceredigion 2025 and received a special trophy to keep. The winners were Bois y Gilfach.

It took a little longer to arrange the official cheque presentation, but on Wednesday, 9 September, Côr Cardi-Gân visited HAHAV’s headquarters at Plas Antaron to hand over the money raised.

During the visit, choir members were given the opportunity to see the extensive renovation work that has been carried out at the building and to gain a better understanding of how the money raised will help support HAHAV’s work in the local community.

Côr Cardi-Gân thank Gwerfyl and Rhian for their warm welcome and wish HAHAV every success as it develops its Living Well service and prepares to pilot a new Day Hospice Respite service over the next six months.
