RESIDENTS of Dihewyd fear Ceredigion County Council officials may have inadvertently misdirected Santa!
‘Road closed’ signs put up while a nearby bridge is repaired means Christmas presents are not reaching the village.
Villager Nikki Crewes-Sweet, who runs her own business from home, claimed locals were given no warning that the B4339 road was going to be closed due to works on the bridge near to Ciliau Aeron.
“This is potentially a big problem for certain residents of Dihewyd in the lead-up to Christmas,” she told the Cambrian News.
“There are ‘road closed’ signs at the Ciliau Aeron junction and in the village of Dihewyd.
“This to many will look as if there is no access to the many properties between the village and the bridge where work is being carried out.
“This includes courier companies from all over the UK making many deliveries this time of year.
“I’ve already had two not deliver to me and now have packages on hold in Bristol and Swansea due to this.”
Residents are further incensed that the works – due to run from 4 to 22 December according to the council’s website – did not start until Wednesday of last week.
