Tywyn is set for a rebrand after the council set up a group of artists and professionals to design a new town logo.

Tywyn Town Council has brought together artists, teachers and branding professionals to investigate what a new town logo should look like. The council also want the help of residents to create an instantly recognisable image for the town.

The council has asked if the current logo say everything they want to say about the town they live in. They want to find out what the people of Tywyn would put on an all new logo through the town’s community groups.

Cllr Ronald McCoo said: “I was thinking, it’s about time we changed the logo and had something more striking. We can never forget history but we also need to move ahead.

“I’m so pleased that so many people are on board, hopefully in the not too distant future we will have something to present.”

In a leaflet advertising the rebrand, the council wrote: ‘We are asking all community groups to tell us what Tywyn means to them, how they visualise Tywyn and we want to make sure everyone has a say and would feel proud to sport a Tywyn bumper sticker or wear a scarf with Tywyn colours, but what should those colours be and what should that logo show?’

The council has also asked people to send in their suggestions to answer the question ‘Tywyn was a celebrity, who would it be?’ in no more than 200 words.

The clerk of Tywyn Council, Francesca Pridding added: “We want something which will go at the ends of the town, on official paperwork. We want to pull a whole community together.

“We want to use the mood boards and take elements of each and create three finished products, from here, we would take the options back to the community.”

They added: “It is a community led project more than anything, we are keen to get input from everywhere in the community. We want to generate pride in the town.”

The council have asked for submissions to be sent in by the end of January.
