RESIDENTS in Machynlleth and Llanidloes who have their kerbside recycling collected by Cae Post will soon see it being collected by the county council, it has been announced.

From April 2017, Powys County Council will start collecting kerbside recycling from approximately 5,000 properties in north Powys who currently see their kerbside recycling collected by Cae Post. Householders will be able to continue to use their black/blue box to recycle paper and card and their red box to recycle cans and plastics, but they will be given an aqua box to recycle their clean glass bottles and jars. The aqua boxes and a leaflet on the change will be delivered to households later this month.

Cllr John Powell, Cabinet member for waste and recycling said: “We will start collecting kerbside recycling from these properties from April. Before we start collecting, we will be providing each household with a new aqua box to recycle their clean glass bottles and jars. Households can continue to use their red and black/blue boxes for their rest of their recycling which will continue to be collected weekly.”

The change is taking place after the council’s contract with Cae Post to collect and process recyclables ends at the end of March.
