The court heard that Gwaze, 46 was stopped by police on Marine Terrace in Aberystwyth on 22 December driving a Vauxhall Movano van.
Roadside and police station tests showed Gwaze had 143 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - more than four times the legal limit of 35mcgs.
Magistrates said custody was the only option for Gwaze - who the court heard had “no community ties” - due to the “very high reading”.
