A man has been fined by magistrates for stealing food and alcohol from an Aberystwyth supermarket.

William MacPherson, of no fixed abode, appeared for sentencing before Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on 26 August.

The 43-year-old had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to stealing food and alcohol worth £458.40 – together with another – from Marks and Spencer in Aberystwyth on 23 July this year.

Magistrates fined MacPherson £40 and ordered him to pay compensation to tehs tore of £90.

He must also pay £85 costs.
