A “highly dangerous” Cardigan man has been jailed for 11 years after he sexually abused a child.

Timothy John Pugh, 41, was already classed as a dangerous offender when he sexually abused a boy under the age of 10.

Pugh also made the boy watch a pornographic video on his mobile phone, the court heard.

Pugh admitted sexual assault and forcing a child to watch pornography.

After his arrest, police found he had used his mobile to search the internet using terms such as “young teens, extra naughty and sub teenager”.

The hearing at Swansea Crown Court was interrupted when a man left the public gallery and approached the dock while shouting threats at Pugh.

Judge Paul Thomas ordered him out of court and requested extra security for the rest of the hearing.

The court heard that Pugh had a previous conviction for following a young girl down a lane, forcing her to the ground and trying to take off her trousers.

He had also, on separate occasions, caused grievous bodily harm to children aged three and five months.

Pugh’s barrister, Ieuan Rees, said: “He needs to work with the authorities, which he has not done in the past. He needs help to avoid coming back to court again and again.”

Mr Rees said Pugh’s new partner was standing by him, fully knowing what he had done.

The judge told Pugh he should not be allowed anywhere near young children.

“Your criminal career is a startlingly bad one," the judge said.

“You remain a great danger to people generally and to young people in particular.

“I have absolutely no doubt you are highly dangerous."

Pugh, who went to live in Penarth, near Cardiff, after the latest offending, was jailed for six years with an additional five years on licence.

Judge Thomas warned him that even after his eventual release he would be liable to be recalled to prison until March, 2031.

And he told Pugh that if he offended in the future in a way that would allow a judge to jail him for life then that is the sentence he would receive.
