A MACHYNLLETH man has been warned that he faces a prison sentence after he admitted robbery and false imprisonment.
Kurt Jarman, 21, of Bryn-y-Gog, admitted robbing Dilwyn Evan Jones of two mobile phones, a bank card and car keys on 22 November last year.
Jarman also admitted assaulting Mr Jones and detaining him against his will.
Jarman appeared at Swansea Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday) before Judge Patrick Curran for a plea and case management hearing.
His barrister, John Hedgecoe, said the offences were serious and, according to existing sentencing guidelines and new ones due to be introduced in April, the starting point would be 13 years minus any discount for early guilty pleas.
Jarman’s former teachers were anxious that the sentencing judge should be made aware of his “particularly difficult upbringing”.
For those reasons, the barrister said, Jarman should not be sentenced until a probation officer had prepared a report into his background.
The sentencing judge might also have to decide whether Jarman was dangerous as defined in law, the court heard.
Judge Curran agreed that Jarman should be sentenced on 23 March.
He was remanded in custody meanwhile.
