A man who threatened another man with a bottle and to headbutt him during an incident in Aberystwyth has been jailed for 16 weeks.
Robert Smith, of no fixed abode, appeared by live video link at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 23 September.
The 30-year-old had pleaded guilty at the hearing to using threatening behaviour towards Dylan Greenhouse on 13 August in Aberystwyth.
Smith also admitted a charge of breaching a community order stemming from the same incident.
The court heard that Smith “used a bottle as a weapon to threaten” and “threatened to headbutt” Mr Greenhouse during the incident that was “distressing for members of the public passing by”.
Magistrates said the “offence was aggravated by being committed whilst subject to a community sentence”.
Magistrates sentenced Smith to 10 weeks in prison for the threatening behaviour charge and a further six weeks for breaching the community order.
He was also made the subject of a two-year criminal behaviour order with requirements for engaging with the drug and alcohol service.
The order also bans him from the shelter on Marine Terrace and the tennis courts and bowling green on North Road.
It also bans him from “acting in an anti-social manner”.
A separate charge of breaching a community notice order was dismissed with no evidence offered by the prosecution.
Smith must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
