STAFF, parents and friends of Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar and Cylch Meithrin Llanilar were busy shining up their shoes, putting on their make-up and waltzing the night away in Strictly Come Dancing #2 on Saturday, 29 April.

Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar and Cylch Meithrin Llanilar organised their first Strictly Come Dancing in 2015. It was such a huge success, it just had to be done all over again; but this time with new dancers, new judges and a new set of dances and moves. And £7,000 was raised.

The dancing couples this year were: Dylan and Angharad, Iestyn and Hilary, Richard and Lizzie, Jason and Rhian and Beci and Llyr ‘Bylb’.

The dances that they’ve been rehearsing and perfecting for the last couple of months were the Waltz, Charleston, Salsa and ‘70’s Disco Dance.

Anna ap Robert has been teaching the dancers for several weeks, without Anna and her creativity and imagination all of this wouldn’t have been possible.

There were four very familiar faces judging the event this year: Mari Grug, the popular presenter on Heno, the nightly programme on S4C; Ifan Gruffydd, the well-known presenter and comedian from Tregaron; Non Williams from Eden, the admired Welsh female band; and Aled Llyr Thomas, a new and talented actor on Pobol y Cwm.

The MC on the night was Geraint Hughes and Geraint Lloyd and his son Tomos were the sound technicians for the evening.

Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar and Cylch Meithrin Llanilar hope to raise as much money as possible, and 200 people attended whilst voting for their favourite dancing couple and whilst bidding for one of the 20 items up for auction.
