WALKERS on Aberystwyth’s North Beach on Saturday had an unpleasant shock after coming across three dead seals that appeared to have been attacked.

The seals were found on North Beach, with one person who saw the remains saying one of the seals had “its throat ripped out”.

Ellie Bowen, who was with friends at the time, said: “We found a dead seal on Aberystwyth beach outside the Glengower with its throat ripped out.”

Selwyn Evans also saw the seals while out walking along North Beach. He said: “I was walking with friends down by North Beach and there were three seals washed up on the beach.”

The seals appeared to have been attacked before being washed up on the beach.

It comes just a week or so after several octopuses were seen ‘walking’ on a beach in New Quay, with witnesses seeing up to 25 of the creatures on New Quay’s Harbour Beach.
