Madam,

Your correspondent Jan Cole’s excellent letter in last week’s Cambrian News concerning Gwynedd Council’s treatment of Harlech, raises an interesting point about the financing of leisure centres which is deserving of greater emphasis.

It seems unfair for the residents of the Harlech and Talsarnau area, having voted to accept a council tax precept to support the Harlech facility, to be financing the council-run leisure centres as well.

This unfairness could be addressed by a compensatory sum being deducted from the county council general rate. How about it Gwynedd?
