An Aberystwyth hotel ravaged by an early-morning fire last July, that killed one person, will be partially demolished next month.
The area around the Ty Belgrave House Hotel on Marine Terrace has been cordoned off for public safety since the fire on 25 July last year.
Next month, work will begin to pull down parts of the badly damaged hotel as police and fire investigations are now fully concluded.
The area of Marine Terrace on Aberystwyth promenade by the hotel and the Belle Vue Hotel next door - itself partially damaged by the blaze - will be closed off for around a month while demolition crews pull sections of Ty Belgrave to the ground.
Road closures will be in place from Monday, 18 February, until Friday, 15 March to allow the work to take place without compromising public safety.
A Ceredigion council spokesperson said: “The council has received a request to close the road in connection with demolition works.
“The request was for a closure between the Ty Belgrave Hotel and the Belle Vue Hotel only.”
The council added: “The road closure application is to facilitate partial demolition and removal of structural elements of the affected roof structure, together with removal of debris from within the building, and to reassess the integrity of the remaining party wall between Belgrave and the Belle Vue.”
