Some experts believe that the leak, said to have emanated from near Tregaron, may have set the river’s eco-system back a generation.
Officers from Natural Resources Wales confirmed last week that their investigation into the leak was ongoing.
Ben Wilson, Ceredigion operations manager at Natural Resources Wales said: “Our rivers provide a home to rich, diverse and valuable species of plants and animals so it’s devastating when pollution incidents happen.
“We continue to investigate the incident on the Teifi and can confirm that the pollution has stopped.
“We will be monitoring the river and working with our partners to do all we can to restore the river as quickly as possible.
“Given the ongoing nature of the investigation, we are not in a position to provide further details at this time.”
Meanwhile, Simon Thomas, shadow cabinet secretary for energy, climate change and rural affairs, has called on the Welsh Government to clarify the measures and actions they are planning on implementing.
