DOLGELLAU-based indie-pop band, Swnami, were the main winners at the Welsh language Music scene’s annual awards, Gwobrau’r Selar, at Aberystwyth Students’ Union on Saturday, 20 February.

Swnami came out on top of the public vote in four of the 12 categories, taking home the awards for Best Song, Best Album, Best Artwork and the prestigious Best Band.

The awards cap a great year for the group who have made a name for themselves internationally whilst travelling to the Netherlands, and also releasing their debut album.

After picking up three awards last year, it was another good night for Ywain Gwynedd, who won the awards for Best Music Video for his hit song Sebona Fi, and the award for Best Solo Artist for the second year running.

“Once again it’s been a really memorable evening, and it was amazing to see the Students Union full with almost 1000 people enjoying the music,” said Gwobrau’r Selar organiser, Owain Schiavone.

“There’s no doubt that 2015 was Swnami’s year, and they fully deserve their success tonight. I’m sure they, and all the other winners, are grateful to all the people who voted for them, and hopefully they will use this as a springboard for further success with their careers.”
