DOLGELLAU is set to benefit from a brand new transport hub to ease bus congestion in the town centre.
The Welsh Government has allocated £47,500 for the “consultation and design works for a new bus interchange” in the town.
It is part of a £6.9m grant to improve safety, create economic growth and promote active travel throughout Wales.
The town’s current infrastructure for buses has been deemed “insufficient” by the county council and buses can often be seen in Dolgellau’s Eldon Square clogging up traffic and potentially endangering schoolchildren.
Dolgellau councillor Linda Morgan was very pleased with the news.
“I welcome the chance to discuss transport projects to keep our communities connected, safe and active and increase the service for local people,” she said.
“The grant is excellent news. The interchange in the centre of Dolgellau needs to be planned better to avoid congestion.”
