A poet from the Llyn Peninsula has won both the Conwy County National Eisteddfod of Wales Crown and this year’s Daniel Owen Memorial Medal.

Guto Dafydd came top in the competition for the Crown on Monday and picked up his second win at the Eisteddfod on Tuesday.

The crown is presented for a sequence of poems not in cynghanedd, of no more than 250 lines, on the subject of Cilfachau (inlets).

The adjudicators were Manon Rhys, Ceri Wyn Jones and Cen Williams.

Competing for the Daniel Owen Memorial Medal were eight people who entered a novel with a strong storyline of no less than 50,000 words.

The adjudicators were Haf Llewelyn, Dyfed Edwards and Llwyd Owen.

Originally from Trefor, Guto lives in Pwllheli with his wife Lisa and children, Casi and Nedw.

He has been a keen competitor at local and national eisteddfodau for many years, and won the Urdd National Eisteddfod Crown in 2013, the National Eisteddfod Crown in 2014 and the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize in 2016.
