HAVE you ever been a member of Young Wives or Dysynni Ladies in Bryncrug? The group is marking 50 years since it was formed and past members are invited to be a part of the celebration.
Fifty years ago, under the guidance of Sister Anna, the then health visitor for the area, and now the organisation’s life president, a group was formed in Bryncrug called the Young Wives, in order to provide the mothers of the area with an opportunity to meet, socialise, discuss and learn about health and social problems of the time.
By now, those mothers are grandmothers - or even great-grandmothers - but the organisation is still going strong, now called the Dysynni Ladies.
There will be a few events over the 2017/18 season to celebrate this milestone in the group’s history.
On the second Wednesday in September at Y Ganolfan, Bryncrug, at 7.30pm the group will be holding a meeting for past and present members.
The members will be holding the official celebration function on the anniversary date, namely, the 14 February, which was the inaugural formation date of the Young Wives in 1968.
A welcome will be extended to all new and old members .
