The partnership between three Powys schools has seen them recognised by Estyn, with two of the schools also being hailed for their excellence.

Ysgol Llanbrynmair, Ysgol Gynradd Carno and Ysgol Glantwymyn were all honoured at Estyn’s award evening, attended by Welsh Government education minister Kirsty Williams, for their work together as part of a school federation, with the schools at Llanbrynmair and Carno also being praised separately for the education provided to youngsters.

Meilyr Rowlands, Estyn’s chief inspector, said the awards honoured schools which had received ‘excellent’ grades in the majority of categories during inspections in 2018/19.

He said: “Celebrating the excellence in our education system and recognising how it was achieved will help to drive improvement across Wales.

“The Estyn awards both commend hard work and commitment while highlighting strategies that lead to success.

“On the Estyn website we’ve shared the success stories of the schools and other providers that achieved excellence during 2018/19 inspections to inspire others.”

Parent Michelle Morgan, whose daughter attends Ysgol Llanbrynmair, praised the work of staff at the school.

She said: “The commitment, care, creativeness and professionalism that the staff show day in and day out is second to none."
