A GROUP of mums and grandparents at Llanarth Primary School and Meithrin have pulled together to help raise money for the village school and nursery.

Diana May, Laura Smith, Lowri James, Kerry Tipper, Elin Jones and Margaret Woodcock, all mums of pupils at Llanarth Meithrin and Llanarth Primary School, challenged themselves to organise a Christmas Fayre to raise funds for their children’s Meithrin and School.

The fayre, held at Llanina Arms, included stalls from local crafts and food produce, cakes made by local grandparents and even included a visit from Santa Claus.

Headteacher Morlais Davies said: “Events like these are a great opportunity to reach out in to the community and we hope that the school can be at the centre of the community.

“We are delighted that these mums chose to support the school and meithrin.”

The challenge was to help raise £500 to go towards improvements for the Meithrin and school. But with the generosity of local businesses and their donations towards the raffle the event helped raise £940.

Laura Smith said: “We were stunned at how kind all the small and large local businesses were with their donations towards our raffle.”
