Emergency resurfacing work will begin tonight in Bow Street, which is set to last for up to two weeks.

Emergency work is also being carried out further south in Aberarth for the next five nights, which will close the A487 each night.

Letters posted through residents’ doors in Bow Street say that work on resurfacing the road will take place between 7pm and 6am for the next 14 nights and will be carried out by Tarmac Ltd.

The road will not be completely shut in Bow Street as it is in Aberarth however, with workers resurfacing one carriageway at a time.

A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “This essential resurfacing work is necessary to keep the roads safe and usable.

“The works are planned to take place overnight to minimise disruption, and local residents have been informed of the plans."

They added: “Recent safety inspections identified carriageway surfacing defects. Full-width machine laid resurfacing is necessary to address this.

“Notifications sent out to residents include programming details of the works, as well as contact information for the contractor as first point of contact for any concerns during the work.

“The works are being carried out by the North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency, who have commissioned ‘Tarmac’ to undertake the works.”

Residents are being asked not to park on the roadside while resurfacing work is carried out, with the NWMTRA adding in a letter to residents: “It is inevitable that there will be some inconvenience to local traffic, businesses and properties during the period of the work and I would like to apologise beforehand.”
