EXPERTS have been called upon to examine how safe Gwynedd’s roads are following a rockslide near Barmouth (seen right).

Last week, tonnes of rocks and dirt collapsed onto the A496 near the iconic Barmouth clock house.

Nobody is thought to have been hurt by the rockfall but it did close one lane of the arterial road for several hours.

A Gwynedd Council spokesperson said: “The road was cleared on Thursday (10 December), and arrangements have been made to carry out further work to establish the stability of the rockface in this area.”
