A DANGEROUS junction near Aberystwyth could be set for improvements after the Welsh Government agreed to carry out a feasibility study before next summer.

Ken Skates AM, Cabinet Secretary for the Economy and Infrastructure, has said that money has been made available to look into potential options to improve the set-up at the Dorglwyd junction from Comins Coch joining the A487.

Further cash to develop any scheme will “be considered” in the next financial year “subject to the availability of funding”, Mr Skates added.

Mr Skates was responding to calls from Ceredigion AM Elin Jones, who said that “many people have campaigned for improvements in this area for a long time” and that “we need to increase our efforts to make this happen”.

The stretch of road surrounding the junction has seen several crashes in the last five years, with residents regularly calling for a roundabout or other traffic-calming measures.

Local councillor John Roberts, who has been calling for urgent improvements to the junction for 10 years and organised a 800-signature petition, said he welcomes the news but “has to wait and see” if it finally happens.
