Madam,

It was good to read in the Cambrian News (8 August) that there are at least a few local political representatives who are aware of what their job involves - namely to work on behalf of their constituents and to represent their views rather than to favour their own fantasies.

There was no consultation with Gwynedd residents on their views regarding Welsh Independence and, as Labour’s Graham Hogg rightly points out, there are far more pressing matters for councillors to deal with - like getting lifeguards on our busy beaches before the summer ends, for example.

Yours etc, Rosy Berry, Llanfair.
