More than 80 people attended a dinner at TyGlyn in Ciliau Aeron on 9 November to mark the 30th anniversary of RABI’s Ceredigion committee.
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is farming’s oldest and largest charity; providing financial support, practical care and guidance to people of all ages.
The 159-year-old charity has given out over £1.3 million in Ceredigion during the past 30 years.
Welsh beef was on the menu at TyGlyn and the dinner was followed by a raffle and an auction conducted by committee member Dai Davies.
Guest speaker was Bryn Davies, who was instrumental in setting up the committee back in 1989 with the help of current vice-chair Gwilym Jenkins.
Bryn gave a purposeful speech, recalling his days as a RABI trustee.
Fernleigh Smith, a committee stalwart, made a special anniversary cake and 13 long-service certificates – ranging from 10 to 30 years – and badges were presented to Ceredigion volunteers by RABI chairman Malcolm Thomas.
A generous donation from guest speaker Bryn Davies meant funds raised on the night for RABI totalled £1,705.25.
Euros Davies, chair of the Ceredigion committee, said: “It was a wonderful evening and it was great to see so many people who have supported our work over the years.”
