BARMOUTH RNLI has thanked a holidaying youngster after he raised over £200 for the charity through a fund-raising bike ride.
Daniel Williams, 14, was on holiday in Barmouth with his father Simon from New Quay in Ceredigion, and opted to complete a cycle ride to help raise vital funds for the RNLI.
He is carrying out a Duke of Edinburgh award and chose to support the RNLI for the volunteering element, with Simon having been a long-serving crew member of New Quay’s inshore lifeboat.
The duo completed a ride down the Mawddach trail from Dolgellau to Barmouth and back again.
The pair arrived in Barmouth during the annual dog show event on Sunday, 2 July and were welcomed by Barmouth’s RNLI coxswain Peter Davies.
Peter said: “It’s great to see youngsters like Daniel taking part in this leading youth achievement award while supporting the RNLI at the same time.
“It is young people just like Daniel who are keen to get involved and learn new skills that the RNLI want to encourage too.”
While Daniel raised over £200 so far he is hoping to increase that to £300.
