ABERYSTWYTH Printmakers’ A for Aber exhibition is on at the Old College until Monday, 29 August.
As part of the Ceredigion Art Trail, Aberystwyth Printmakers are showing over 60 new fine art prints. Paul Croft, chairman of Aberystwyth Printmakers, whos organised the show, said: "The elegant Seddon Room at Old College has been set up for this special show of small A4-size works, which are all for sale.
“We have been able to encourage Printmakers from Ceredigion, as well as from further a field to take part in this exciting show. Some of the works have come from the England, Ireland, Germany and even Canada and Australia."
Paul described some of the techniques used to produce the prints and explained that these varied and some of these processes can be done at the workshop that the Printmakers has in the Old College.
"The exhibition has works produced by etching, drypoint, collagraph and lithograph," he said. "There are also a number of works that use a variety of techniques in one image."
Many of the images in the show are related to the Ceredigion and Aberystwyth area. It is interesting to see how many artists are inspired by the landscape, the sea, the architecture and the people of mid Wales. At least half the images have some local reference.
Paul added: "The exhibition is quite unusual in that none of the works is framed. We decided that most people who buy art want to choose their own frames and it also makes it a lot cheaper to purchase in the first place. I also think it allows people to get a better look at he actual work."
The Aberystwyth Printmakers' A for Aber exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm and is free. Any works purchased can be collected at the end of the show.
