NEW Quay’s iconic harbour has been lit up by a spectacular fireworks display this evening as the town as part of celebrations to mark the re-opening of the Memorial Hall.
Photographer Gary Jones sent us these photographs of the fireworks display lighting the night sky above the harbour and said there was a ‘huge crowd there as well with a great atmosphere’.
The display is part of a weekend of events planned to coincide with the reopening of New Quay’s Memorial Hall.
Ceredigion MP Ben Lake was on hand to officially open the hall on Saturday morning and a Story Studio is being held all weekend, giving residents the chance to share tehir experiences of life in the area and what the future could hold.
During a year of lockdowns, the Rural Futures project, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, has been working in the area developing a picture of local concerns, needs and aspirations.
Despite not being able to meet, people from across the area took part in storytelling phone calls, leading to an online survey, the results of which will be on display at the Story Studio.
More events are planned for Sunday with the hall open for groups to tour and a Pumpkin Hunt being held around the town from 5pm.
