TWO fitness fanatics from New Quay have teamed up to form a new charity to raise funds for worthy causes decided on by the public.

Sean Turner and Steve Moores have set up Love From Wales having already organised a number of fundraising challenges in recent years.

Last summer they were among a dozen-strong team who took on the The Snowdonia Challenge in memory of young meningitis victim Ava Jeremiah.

Snowdonia 4 Ava – which saw the team run, trek and cycle 59 miles and scale two mountains within a day – ended up raising £4,785 for the Meningitis Research Foundation.

“We’ve done a few such events over the years, all of which have been pretty successful,” Sean, 33, a caravan salesman, told the Cambrian News.

“But each time you have to start from scratch so I thought why not start a charity and create a fundraising team?

“The idea is to give people the chance on social media to decide on the charitable causes we can raise money for.

“Generally, these causes would be local but we’re not ruling out fundraising for causes further afield – if that’s what people want, of course.”

The first challenge for Love From Wales will be the Cardiff Half Marathon on 7 October, when they will be aiming to raise £5,000 for Canolfan y Môr, the special needs unit at Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron.

“We have a team of 25 in place and if everyone raises £200 we will hit that target,” said Sean.

“One of the guys already has £900 of sponsorship pledged so I’m confident of raising the £5,000."
