THE CEREDIGION coast has a flood alert in place for this evening and tomorrow morning as Storm Abigail and high tides combine.

Storm Abigail, which is predicted to batter west Wales with force eight winds from a west-southwest direction overnight, coupled with a 4.7m high tide at 8.12pm on Thursday and again at 8.31am on Friday, has prompted the Environment Agency to issue the alert.

The Environment Agency alert — defined as “flooding is possible, be prepared” — stated: “High tides are predicted over the next high water at approximately 7pm this evening and again at approximately 07:00am tomorrow morning.

“Winds are forecast to be force 8 from a west-southwest direction.

“Large waves may be expected at exposed locations with large amounts of spray and possibly limited wave overtopping which could include debris.”
