A disabled pensioner from Barmouth said he has been left stranded in his home during recurring flooding incidents in his street.
Peter Jones, 68, lives on Heol y Llan in Barmouth and is registered disabled. He says flooding has occurred three times on the road and pavement outside of his house (pictured) and each time it has made it difficult for him to leave his house.
Mr Jones has hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) which causes mobility problems. He usually uses a mobility scooter, and says he is unable to leave the house when there’s flooding due to the risk of damaging the scooter.
Mr Jones told the Cambrian News that the flooding first happened in November 2016, then again six weeks ago and, most recently on 28 November.
In 2016 Peter told the Cambrian News that he contacted Gwynedd Council about the issue. The council say they carried out work on the surface water drainage following that incident.
Welsh Water attended and unblocked the gully, but said the drain is council-owned and so it is responsible for maintaining it.
Around six weeks ago it flooded again and Peter contacted Gwynedd Council once more.
He said he was told the issue would be fixed, but he says it wasn’t and that the water eventually drained away by itself.
The most recent flooding occurred last Thursday when a pipe burst.
