NHS workers will get to ride the waltzers and dodgems for free when the fair comes to Aberystwyth next month.

As a thank you to NHS workers for their efforts tackling the Covid-19 pandemic over the last 20 months, Studt’s Fair will give NHS key workers free access to rides on Thursday, 18 November between 6pm and 7.30pm.

Vernon Studt of Studt Fun Fairs told the Cambrian News: “We feel this is a great way to say thank you to the staff who have been working so hard throughout the pandemic.

“All NHS staff have to do is show their ID on 18 November between those times and they will get to go on the rides for free.”

The fair will be doing the same thing in Cardigan on Tuesday, 9 November. NHS staff visiting the fair on the day will be able to go on rides for free between 6pm and 7pm.

The full fair will be in Cardigan on Wednesday, 10 November, before travelling up the A487 to Aberystwyth.

The fair will be held on eight consecutive days in Aberystwyth between Monday, 15 November and Monday, 22 November.

The road along Park Avenue will remain open during this time as a new home has been found for the market stalls on the site of the former Arriva depot.

Speaking to the Cambrian News last month when the return of the fair was announced, Vernon Studt said: “We have had constructive talks with Ceredigion County Council and will be returning to Aberystwyth and putting on a good show.

“We have been visiting Aberystwyth since 1837 and I am almost certain that last year was the first time in 183 years that there was no fair in the town in November.

“People will be welcome to wear masks, but they will not be mandatory. All we ask is that people behave responsibly and follow the guidelines.”

The fair and market will be open from 4pm on weekdays and 2pm on weekends.

Vernon added: “We are excited to be returning to Aberystwyth and I am sure children in the area are looking forward to it too.”
