The lack of progress and information on the planned new Dyfi Bridge is becoming increasingly frustrating, a local councillor has said.

Work had been expected to begin on the much-needed new bridge by now, but there has been no progress in about a year.

Back in September last year, transport minister Ken Skates told Cllr Michael Williams that he could not give a start date as it needed to be decided whether a public inquiry should be held first.

But since then there has been no further progress and Cllr Williams told the Cambrian News that the lack of information and lack of progress on the scheme was frustrating for Machynlleth residents.

He said: “There hasn’t been any progress as far as I’m aware. The last communication I had under the hand of the minister was that his officers were working to resolve certain matters, but that was just before Easter.

“Local people, and people wider afield, are very frustrated. There doesn’t seem to be any movement on this scheme.

“It does need a positive statement from the Welsh Government to make a clear statement about the future.”
