A MUM of four from Machynlleth who admits “struggling to run up even a small hill”, is taking on the mighty peaks of Snowdonia to raise money for a cause close to her heart.
Tina McAuley is aiming high – hoping to raise £500 by running the Snowdonia Half Marathon on 22 May in aid of Future Play Machynlleth.
Future Play is raising money to build a modern, accessible playground at Machynlleth’s Plas grounds.
Tina, 38, said: “I’m a mum of four, my youngest being 17 months old.
“I think I’m a bit mad setting myself this huge challenge as anyone who knows me knows I struggle running up any small hill, let alone 13.5 miles up Snowdon! But I feel the town needs this new park desperately and I want to help.
Future Play volunteers are thrilled with Tina’s effort. Elizabeth Greenwood-Dunn, chairperson, said: “Future Play would like to say a huge thank you to Tina for offering to do this.”
Tina has set up an online fund-raising page - here - to help her raise the £500, and has also put sponsor forms and tins in local businesses, including the leisure centre, nursery and Loisin Lush.
There will also be a sponsor form on the Future Play Market stall on 16 March.
