DUKE, the homeless American Bulldog from Cardigan, is still looking for new owners, after two years.

The five-year-old “gentle giant”, who weighs in at around 45kg, has had all attempts to re-home him dashed.

“We’ve just had no interest in him,” Yvonne Hazel, a spokesperson for Animal Rescue Cymru, told the Cambrian News.

“It’s because he’s a bull breed. There’s such a lot of bad press about them, it’s very sad.

“It’s such a shame because Duke really is a gentle giant; a big softy who just loves people although he’s no good with cats.

“He’s very big and enthusiastic, he actually thinks he’s a chihuahua and doesn’t realise he’s so large! If he’s going from A to B he probably would go straight through something rather than around it.

“That’s the reason we wouldn’t re-home him in a household with small children because he’d probably bowl them over.”

Duke came to the Cardigan centre after his previous owners reluctantly decided to part with him following a change in their circumstances.
