A DOMESTICATED pig has been causing a bit of a stir in Dolgellau.

In recent months, curious residents have spotted a pig on a leash wandering around town with his owners.

George the micro pig, who is six-months-old and fully house trained, is the latest addition to the Jones family and lives with them in their home and even has his own social media page and furniture.

Lisa Marie Jones, George’s ‘mummy’, explained the reasons for their novel house guest.

“George is our family pet pig who loves living with us in the house. He’s house trained and enjoys sleeping on the sofa,” she explained to the Cambrian News.

“He’s a ‘micro pig’ however we have no idea how big he will actually get!

“There’s no knowing how much he’ll grow but his parents were smallish so fingers crossed!”

George has proven a popular figure around Dolgellau.

“He’s a friendly boy, he loves going out for walks and wears a harness and a lead,” Lisa continued.

“He often goes out for walks with our two Chihuahuas and he loves our two cats.

“George also loves acorns and he will run to the area where acorns are - although he’s not allowed them as they will cause stomach problems.

“What he loves most is belly rubs! He’s quite a well known character here in Dolgellau now and he has his own Facebook page.

“He also has a muddy pen in the back yard and a stone shed full of straw to sleep in where he can enjoy being a pig during the day.”
