RECYCLING banks at Aberystwyth Castle will be relocated, after Ceredigion County Council said parked cars had made it impossible to empty the bins.
Concerns had been raised that bins at the Castle grounds, especially the glass recycling bins, were not being emptied and were making the area an eyesore, but a council spokesperson said those bins would now be moved to a location in Maes Rheidol to ensure they could be emptied properly.
One resident, Lena Williams, said there had been long-running problems with getting the glass recycling bins emptied.
She said: “This is the third week that it hasn’t been picked up. There are about five general bins in the Castle grounds that have sprung up and look dreadful, but common sense shows that we need another glass bin there. The two big glass bins are full. This has been going on for over two weeks.
“I suppose they try to collect them every week, but sometimes they don’t do it. At holiday times it leaves such a bad impression.
“The glass bins are always full, so common sense shows that we need another one.”
However, a council spokesperson said the problem with the glass bins was being able to access them to empty them, and that had led to the decision to relocate the recycling banks.
