FAIRBOURNE has been going loco for locomotives at an annual festival of steam.
The rain did not stop the enjoyment at the Fairbourne Railway’s Annual Steam Gala on 28-29 July, which saw the heritage railway’s resident engines joined by four special guest trains.
From Exbury Gardens, home to the Rothschild family’s collection of azaleas and rhododendrons, came Naomi.
St Egwin was visiting from the Vale of Evesham Light Railway, while Windmill Farm in Lancashire provided Gwril and Rachel, both former Fairbourne engines.
Rachel was making her first appearance back at Fairbourne since she was sold in 1984.
Fairbourne station platform saw passengers entertained with stalls, games and music from a street organ, while down at Barmouth Ferry, there were model railways, veteran cars and miniature railway rides.
Two engines, Yeo and Sherpa, celebrated their 40th birthdays and there was even a train pulled by four engines to finish the weekend in style.
