A GROUP of kind-hearted Llyn fund-raisers will be travelling to Tanzania in the New Year to help two families living in extreme poverty.

Gerallt Parry, Llyr Smits, Sioned Prys Griffith and Matt Richardson, all from the Pwllheli area, will be travelling to rural Arusha, in northern Tanzania in January, and have been tirelessly fund-raising to help pay for the construction work needed to renovate the homes of the struggling families.

Gerallt, who first visited Tanzania in 2010 where he helped set up and manage a free pre-primary school for five years, met both families during his trip.

One of those families includes 12-year-old Victor Joseff, who lives with his mother, sister and younger brother and sadly suffers from Muscular Dystrophy. He is unable to walk and is generally confined to his bedroom. His family desperately need a new outdoor toilet and washroom outside their home.

The second family which will benefit from the fund-raising includes 11-year-old Joshua Saidi who lives with his twin sisters, Breta and Brenda and his parents. Funds will be used to build a new outdoor toilet/washroom for the family, and also to plaster the outside of their home to protect the building from the elements.

The current roof of the house is also in desperate need of repair.

It was while Gerallt was working at the school on a previous trip he met both families and vowed to return to help them.
