I have been spending time in my second home recently and I’ve seen that so-called affordable houses for local people are being snapped up by investors practically queuing up to view, even offering over the asking price presumably to use as holiday lets.

Thus not paying any council tax.Wouldn’t it make more sense for the council to have a fair affordable rate for holiday let and second home owners, rather than let genuine second home owners to bear the brunt of their extortionate increase?

Doesn’t the council realise they would have more money in the coffers and communities would benefit.

Do they want towns and villages full of holiday lets, not paying any rates?
