WITH cases of coronavirus on the increase across Wales, public authorities and education centres are setting out their plans to combat the pandemic.
With the UK Government expected to outline their plans nationwide later today (Thursday), councils, health boards and universities have outlined their plans.
Although there are no confirmed cases in Ceredigion, cases have been confirmed in Carmarthenshire, Powys and Pembrokeshire, while health boards, including Powys, Hywel Dda and Betsi Cadwaladr have set up testing units for patients who will be given appointments.
The first testing unit in Ceredigion is in Cardigan, with Hywel Dda’s second unit in Carmarthen, although the health board has said it will consider other locations.
Meanwhile, Aberystwyth University and Ceredigion Council have both said they are drawing up protocols for how to continue work and following guidelines.
A council spokesperson said: "Ceredigion Council are working closely with Public Health Wales and will be led by them on any guidance regarding coronavirus.
"The council recognises its duty of care to its employees as well as everyone else who may come into contact with our work.
"Proactive work is underway which includes establishing a task group, providing advice and guidance to staff, schools and care homes, and ensuring the necessary equipment and safety products are available.
"In addition, the task group is undertaking joint planning with statutory partners and contingency planning to ensure continuity of essential services.
"Should Public Health Wales’s advice change, the council will follow the advice and act accordingly."
A spokesperson for Aberystwyth University said: "Aberystwyth University continues to monitor the situation with regard to Covid-19 coronavirus and is taking appropriate action, in accordance with Public Health Wales guidance.
"We are currently operating as usual.
"However, we are planning in detail for a variety of possible scenarios and are ready to respond if and when anything changes."
