Ceredigion Actif staff are hoping to get the county’s children moving during lockdown with daily activity sessions online.
The Active Young People Team at Ceredigion Actif have started broadcasting bilingual daily activity sessions for Ceredigion’s children and young people.
The sessions are broadcast live at 9.30am every Monday to Friday and will continue until February half-term.
Each session can be viewed live on YouTube or Facebook and are also saved to Microsoft Teams on Hwb so that they can be accessed or repeated at a later date.
Every day, the Active Young People staff follow the ‘Ffit yn 5’ programme that Ceredigion Schools are already familiar with whereby five different activities are chosen each day. Each activity is shown by the instructor and the children can work together at the same time to complete the session.
The Ffit yn 5 programme aims to improve young people’s physical health and mental wellbeing, and with children being home-schooled at the moment, this can be included as part of their daily routine or as part of their PE lessons.
Carwyn Young, Ceredigion County Council’s corporate manager for wellbeing centres, said: “Being active is a great way to start the day, we’d like as many of the young people in Ceredigion as possible to join us so we can be active together.
“We recognise the challenges that home schooling can bring, so hopefully these 15 minute sessions will help make a positive contribution to our young people’s physical health, fitness and mental wellbeing, whilst most importantly having fun.”
