BRONGLAIS Hospital’s A&E unit saw a higher number of patients within four hours than any other major A&E unit in Wales in November, figures have revealed.

Although Bronglais missed the Welsh Government’s target of seeing 95 per cent of patients inside four hours, the figure at the hospital of 91.8 per cent of patients at A&E being seen within four hours was the best across the country. However, it was a drop on the figure for October of 92. 8 per cent of patients at A&E seen within four hours.

The Bronglais percentage was significantly better than the other major A&E units in the Hywel Dda area with 80.1 per cent of patients at Glangwili’s A&E department seen within four hours compared to 79.4 per cent in Withybush Hospital.

That compares to a Welsh average of 77.1 per cent of patients seen within four hours in Wales’s major A&E units.

Bronglais Hospital also performed better than other Hywel Dda hospitals in the percentage of patients seen in less than eight hours and 12 hours.
