SEX is on the agenda for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board this month.
The SEXtember campaign is running again this year to promote awareness around sexual health matters during the month of September.
Dr Ushan Andrady, consultant in genito-urinary medicine/HIV, who is based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, leads the annual SEXtember campaign.
He said: “It’s hard for people to discuss sexual health matters openly without being embarrassed.
“It’s important that we try and make it easy for people to talk freely about any sexual health issues or concerns they have.
“This year’s main theme is to raise awareness around STI testing – Quick-n-Easy testing.
“Throughout the month of September, our staff, with the help of the voluntary sector working in north Wales, will be out and about highlighting how quick and easy it is to get tested for common STIs and busting the many myths surrounding them.”
STIs do not always have symptoms and if left untreated can lead to complications and health problems.
If you are sexually active or worry that you have caught a sexually transmitted infection, it’s easy to get tested at your local sexual health clinic or GP surgery.
The tests are free, and if you have no symptoms you don’t even have to be examined and the tests are pain free.
