A NEW cancer support centre has been opened at Bronglais Hospital has been hailed as an important step for cancer patients in Ceredigion.

The new Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre was opened on Wednesday, 4 May, by Hywel Dda Health Board chief executive Steve Moore and Susan Morris, the head of services for Macmillan Wales.

Macmillan’s cancer information and support co-ordinators Gwynneth Shiers and Ingrid Evans will be based at the centre and said they hoped that more people would access the service not it has a dedicated base.

It will provide information and support to patients and their families with Mr Moore saying it was part of the health board’s attempts to provide services closer to patients.

He said: “We are extremely proud to mark the opening of this information centre in Bronglais Hospital which will provide local people with additional support when they need it most."
