Community testing units set up in north Wales last week to support the response to tackling Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) and to help Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board meet demand for testing over the coming weeks are no longer operating.

Three centres were set up last Tuesday, with one at Ysbyty Alltwen, Tremadog, one at Rossett Clinic, Wrexham and another at Bryn y Neuadd Hospital in Llanfairfechan.

Only patients who had completed an initial assessment through the all-Wales 111 telephone service and who had an appointment were tested at the units, but now testing is only being carried out on people who have been hospitalised.

The advice for the public has also changed. People no longer need to contact NHS 111 if they think they may have contracted Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Instead, anyone who has a high temperature or a new continuous cough should stay at home for seven days.

They should not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

They should only contact NHS 111 if they feel they cannot cope with their symptoms at home, their condition gets worse, or their symptoms do not get better after seven days.
